Clearly this is the month to be aware of breast cancer, however I also want to make you aware of skin cancer:

Melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer and the most common among young adults. Every year more than 50,000 people are diagnosed with melanoma. Melanoma starts in the melanocyte cells. These cells make melanin, which give skin its color. When the skin is exposed to too much ultraviolet light, either from the natural sun or tanning beds, the melocytes could grow abnormally and become cancerous. If melanoma is caught and treated at an early stage, the chances of a successful recovery are high. If melanoma is found late, it can grow deep into the skin and spread to other parts of the body, which makes treatment difficult.

People with fair skin and light eyes, typically with blond or red hair, are at a greater risk for developing melanoma. Other risk factors include people with many freckles, more than 50 moles on the body, exposure to tanning beds, a weakened immune system, and people who have suffered from severe, blistering sunburn as a child or adult. People who have a family history of melanoma or have had it before are more susceptible to getting skin cancer.Melanoma is usually first spotted as a change in shape, size, or color of a mole. It can also appear in the form of a new mole. In men, the most common places melanoma is found are on the upper body between the shoulders and the hips and on the neck and head. Women often get it on their lower legs. For people with dark skin, it normally appears under fingernails or toenails, on the palms of hands, and soles of the feet. Although this is where it shows up most often, melanoma can appear anywhere on the body. The best way to prevent skin cancer is limiting the amount of time spent in the sun, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

It’s also a good idea to do skin self-examinations every six to eight weeks to be conscious of already existing moles, as well as new moles that appear.

Using all natural products reduces the likely hood of creating any kind of disease.
